What’s your Halloween aesthetic?
I love blog prompts. I know for sure that I do NOT want my house to look like the Dollar General threw up on it. That’s for certain. ๐
Our house already has kind of a classic, vintage, eclectic feel to it. There are old-fashioned architectural details, tall arched doorways, wainscoting, chunky baseboards, painted ceilings, Mediterranean blues, vintage pieces and pops of color all mixed together. It’s not one specific style, which is probably why I love it. It just feels collected, charming and a little unexpected.
So for fall and Halloween, I don’t want to fight against that. I want warm, lived-in fall with a little spookiness, but mostly playfulness, tucked into it.
I want the house to smell like cookies and cider. I normally have a huge aversion to my house smelling like food, but right around Halloween is the one exception. I actually love salted caramel and black licorice candles this time of year. I also have a vanilla and nutmeg cookie candle that is divine. It was technically a Christmas candle, but it always smelled much more like fall to me, so I reorder it every year.
I want warm lamps, blankets, pumpkins, candles, little ghosts and strange little spooky things hiding here and there. I want you to walk in and immediately feel like the weather is changing, the air is getting crisper and everything is shifting into a new season.
I want a seasonal high. ๐
