Alright, We’re Giving In…

Well, we're still without internet here, and at this point, I'm starting to wonder if AT&T is ever going to get us reconnected. 😆 Every day we're given another estimated restoration time, and every day that time comes and goes. I know they've got their hands full after the hurricane, but goodness gracious!

Gary and I have been talking about possibly getting Starlink tomorrow. We actually had it years ago when we lived in Land O' Lakes, back when it was still fairly new and everybody was starting to talk about it. We already had fiber optic internet at that house, but we were curious about Starlink and decided to give it a try. If I remember correctly, Gary wasn't particularly impressed with it, and I believe he ended up selling it to somebody he worked with.

Of course, that was years ago, and I imagine the technology has come a long way since then.

Sam's Club has those little Starlink Minis now, and we've been considering picking one up to use until our AT&T Fiber is restored. Then we'd have it as a backup for future hurricanes and other extended outages. After spending all this time without internet, having another option sounds pretty appealing.

I'm still reading up on it and trying to decide whether it's worth the investment. Some people seem to absolutely love Starlink, while others have mixed feelings about it. I suppose that's true of just about everything these days.

I'm not necessarily looking to replace our fiber optic internet permanently because, under normal circumstances, it's been perfectly fine. But having something portable that we could pull out when we need it, especially during hurricane season, might be a pretty smart idea.

Anyway, that's what's on my mind this evening. Apparently, I've reached the point in hurricane recovery where I'm researching satellite internet for entertainment. Who knew I'd miss my Wi-Fi this much? 😆

I do have a hotspot to my phone now, so I’ve been watching TV all day on my Roku TV in my bedroom. The kids are doing the same with their VR’s so I guess we’re not really missing out on that much. I just want my Alexa in the kitchen to work and my freaking Dreame mop!!  It will run on auto, but I can’t use the mapping. I think we’re just gonna go buy one tomorrow and keep it for back up. If it doesn’t come on over the weekend, we’re gonna need it anyway because the kids start back to school Monday and they need Wi-Fi to be able to do their homework. Yes the hotspot is working but it’s not fast or anything. I don’t know if they’d be able to upload their work. This probably won’t be the last time this ever happens either. Womp womp. 🙄😩
