Friday Night Stuff
It’s 9:45 on a Friday night, and I’m already in bed, about to turn on a movie and hopefully fall asleep to it. I am absolutely whipped today!
We took the kids to Spirit Halloween in Pensacola tonight to get their costumes. They both went in with a pretty good idea of what they wanted, although I’m not sure either one of them was completely committed to anything. They managed to pull it together pretty quickly, though, and they’re both happy with what they got. I found a cute mask to wear while handing out candy and picked up a few new bowls for the trick-or-treaters. Gary absolutely hates that store, but he survived. I could practically feel him cringing and rolling his eyes the entire time. 😂
Afterward, we stopped at LongHorn for dinner, and it was delicious! I had a filet with asparagus and corn, and it really hit the spot. Traffic coming back from Pensacola was terrible, especially heading into Milton and Pace, but it was worth the trip. The kids have their costumes, everybody is happy, and Halloween is officially one less thing I have to worry about.
As soon as we got home, Gary and I showered and went straight to bed. I’m sure the kids will be up half the night playing games or doing whatever it is they do, but we are DONE. Gary has to work all weekend, and for whatever reason, I have been exhausted today. I woke up around 6:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I think I heard him leaving for work, or maybe the Ring notification woke me up. Who knows? All I know is that once I was awake, I was awake, and apparently I'm paying for it tonight.
My big plan for tomorrow is to tackle our sunroom. Before the hurricane, we hauled almost all my plants in there for protection, and I never bothered moving them back out. With winter right around the corner, I think I'm just going to leave them where they are. I'm certainly not hauling all those heavy pots back outside just to turn around and bring them in again when we get our first cold snap. Some of those enormous tropical plants are in pots that probably weigh 60 pounds apiece. No, thank you!
I actually love having everything together out there. I forget how many plants I have until they're all in one place. Between the mandevilla and all my other vining plants, the whole room looks like a little jungle. It's really pretty! It just needs some serious TLC right now. There are dead leaves everywhere from the hurricane, and everything seems to be covered in dust. I think a lot of it is coming from the damaged trees next door and blowing through the screens. It's all over the glass tables, the sofa, and just about everything else out there.
So tomorrow I'll be sweeping, mopping, cleaning furniture, tending to plants, and hopefully getting that concrete floor pressure-washed. I want everything looking good again, especially since we'll have a houseful of kids here for Halloween, and I imagine the sunroom will be one of their favorite places to hang out.
And that's about as exciting as my weekend plans get! A little cleaning, a little plant therapy, and hopefully some time to relax. I'm actually looking forward to it.
For now, this girl is turning on a movie and calling it a night. Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend! I'm sure going to enjoy mine.
xoxo - Jenny
