Getting Excited
Well, it's Tuesday, and today has been pretty good. I did absolutely nothing until Gary got home, and then we took a little ride downtown to kill some time before picking up the kids from school. Whenever he gets off early, they want us to come get them instead of riding the bus, so we figured we'd just ride around for a little while.
I think I mentioned that Norah Harper completely destroyed her iPhone. We sent it off to Apple to see if the warranty would cover it, but apparently the damage was too bad. So now we're having to go through insurance to get it replaced. It's an iPhone 17, and we still owe a ton of money on it, so it's not like we can just go get her another one.
Gary is actually at AT&T right now getting all of that straightened out, and he had to take my phone with him because the battery has suddenly started getting ridiculously hot. I mean, that thing gets HOT. I don't know what in the world is going on with it.
Anyway, they're replacing mine, too. I have the burgundy iPhone 18 Max, and I absolutely love the color, but if I want another burgundy one, I'll have to wait until the middle of next month. The only one they can get me right now is powder blue, and it’s 1TB which is massive, but it'll be here in two days.
So I guess I'm getting a baby blue phone.
I'm a little disappointed because that burgundy is so pretty, but I am glad it has 1TB.. I can do more art videos. And I'm sure not waiting another three weeks while this thing feels like it's about to catch fire. Hopefully it doesn't explode before I can send it back. LOL.
I actually thought about getting one of those folding phones that opens up into a bigger screen. I think they're really cool looking, but everything I've been reading about them makes me nervous. People are having issues with the screens cracking right down the middle where they fold, and some of them are saying it happened almost immediately.
No, thank you. I don't need another phone that requires a trip to AT&T every other week.
I think I'll wait until they've been around a little longer and worked out some of those problems. Honestly, we've had enough trouble with these newer phones already. Everybody in our house has had issues except Gary. His apparently knows better.
And yes, I realize a 12-year-old probably doesn't need an expensive iPhone, especially one who seems determined to destroy everything she touches. But we got a really good deal on them, and I like being able to keep up with where the kids are.
We live so far out that AirTags and some of those other tracking devices don't work very well. Even the school bus app loses the bus before it gets to our house. We use Life360 constantly, and I love it. We use it to keep up with everybody, and we even communicate through it. It's probably one of the most-used apps on our phones.
Anyway, enough about phones.
We've also switched our internet over to satellite, and the equipment should be here anytime. We're just trying to get some of these little aggravating things taken care of. It seems like there's always something.
Gary and I also rode out to Pace Commons today to look around at what will eventually be our new neighborhood.
We drove through the other day and looked at some of the houses, but we didn't really go all the way to the back where the cleared lots are. One of the things we like so much about it is that there's a pretty thick wooded area behind the lots, and that'll basically be our backyard.
I wanted to see how much damage the hurricane had done back there because that's a big part of what we like about the place.
Everything looked really good, though!
I swear, every time we ride through there, I get a little more excited. I know it's still a ways off, but I guess it really isn't when you think about it.
We're probably going to put our house on the market in April, and then we'll have to rent somewhere while we wait for the new house to be built. I'm guessing we'll be renting for about a year, depending on how quickly they can get started.
We're on the waiting list, but there's not much we can do beyond that. We're pretty much at their mercy as far as the timeline goes.
I think the renting part is what's going to feel like forever, but the good thing is that wherever we end up renting will probably be a lot bigger than this house. We've already found some really nice rental houses with quite a bit more space, and honestly, I think the kids are going to love that. They'll have more room to spread out and do their own thing, which is something we could all use a little more of around here.
So even though renting isn't exactly what I'm looking forward to, I think it'll actually be a pretty nice change for us while we're waiting. And I'm starting to get excited about the whole thing. The more we outgrow this house, the more ready I feel to move.
I'm already imagining what everything is going to look like, where we're going to put things, and all the stuff I want to do. Of course, we've got a long way to go before any of that happens, but it's fun to think about.
Anyway, Gary is picking up dinner tonight because everybody wanted something different. He's getting Zaxby's for the kids and Jersey Mike's for us, so we're going to eat our salads and probably spend the rest of the night in bed watching TV.
And I don't feel one bit bad about it.
The house is clean, the yard is cut, and everything looks good inside and outside. There's nothing I particularly need to be doing tonight, so I'm not going to invent something.
We'll probably find something to watch, stare at our phones half the time, and send each other stupid videos even though we're sitting right beside each other.
That's pretty much how we spend a lot of our evenings, and it works for us. LOL.
Anyway, I think I've rambled enough for one night. I'm going to eat my dinner and find something good to watch.
Hope y'all have a good evening!
