Good Morning, and Let There Be Light!

Well, I had every intention of writing this last night, but apparently I was a little more tired than I realized because I fell asleep before I got around to it. 😂

I’m waking up a very happy lady this morning because yesterday evening, our power FINALLY came back on! I cannot tell you how wonderful it feels to have our house back to normal.

We were actually just about to make another trip for gas for the generator when the lights came on. Gary hadn’t even made it out of the neighborhood before I called to tell him to turn around. We had POWER!

And let me tell you, that hot shower last night was glorious. We have a bench in our shower, and I sat right down, shaved my legs, and just let the hot water hit my face for what felt like 20 minutes. I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated a shower quite so much in my life. 😂

Then I threw on my robe and got to cleaning. I was determined to go to bed with my house feeling like my house again. All the extension cords were put away, everything was plugged back into its rightful place, and all the groceries that needed to be moved between refrigerators were moved. I got the laundry going, and one of the first things I did was get my robot mop running. I was SO ready for those floors to be cleaned!

Since we practically have a brand-new air conditioner, the house cooled down in no time. Between the cool air, clean floors, fresh laundry, and everything being back where it belonged, it finally felt like home again.

I even made the kids a big pot of their favorite macaroni and cheese and a batch of brownies last night. Just a little something comforting after a long few days. And even the dogs were happy! I think everybody in this house was just relieved to have things back to normal, including our four-legged family members. 😂

By the time I finally crawled into bed, everything was back in its place, the house was cool and quiet, and there wasn’t a generator humming outside. We still don’t have Internet, but that’s a small inconvenience compared to everything else. After the last several days, I’m just happy to wake up this morning with electricity, hot water, and a clean house.

It’s funny how quickly the things we take for granted can become the very things we’re most thankful for.

Good morning, y’all. It’s a beautiful day to have electricity! ❤️
