Good Morning, Y’all!
Good morning and happy Tuesday!
I'm just getting up and enjoying a little cup of decaf coffee. I know drinking coffee without caffeine probably seems pointless to some people, but I've become so sensitive to caffeine that I can't tolerate it anymore. I actually gave up coffee for well over a year, but recently decided to start drinking decaf because I missed my sugar-free flavored creamers, especially my pumpkin spice! Besides, there's just something about the smell of coffee brewing first thing in the morning that makes me happy. I don't need the caffeine. I just enjoy the whole experience.
I've got the kids up and moving. Their bus hasn't been coming until after 9:00 lately, so I've been letting them sleep until around 8:00. Gage was already awake when I got up, though. He had some homework he didn't feel like doing last night, so he got himself up early to finish it. My responsible little procrastinator.
Speaking of Gage, he showed me last night how tight his jeans are getting, so I need to find that boy some new pants. He's growing like a weed and is now in that awkward stage where boys' sizes fit his waist but not his legs, and men's sizes are a whole different adventure.
He's particular about his jeans, too. He loves Levi's, prefers a bigger cut without too much extra fabric through the thighs, and practically lives in his boots now. He only wears tennis shoes for PE and track. He's simple like his daddy, but Lord have mercy, he's picky!
I was planning to go look for jeans this morning, but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced he needs to come with me and try some on. I generally avoid taking my kids clothes shopping because I'd rather bring home seventeen pairs of pants, let them try everything on, and return sixteen of them than spend three hours negotiating with teenagers in a dressing room. Haha! I think I'll take Gage this afternoon and let Harper stay home with her daddy.
While I'm out, I also need to look for a baby gift for one of my friends who just became a grandmother. I hadn't really planned on doing that today, but since I'll already be shopping, I might as well. It seems like so many of my friends are becoming grandparents these days, and I absolutely LOVE seeing them with those sweet babies. It just melts my heart! I've had the worst baby fever for a couple of years now. I'm telling you, if Gary and I had met earlier in life, we'd probably have five or six kids. He'd tell you the same thing!
Anyway, before I start planning a nursery at almost fifty, let me get back to my shopping list! I also want to look at some hairstyling tools. I've been thinking lately about how I used to believe that you always got what you paid for, especially with beauty products. I don't necessarily believe that anymore. Some expensive products are absolutely worth the money, but plenty of cheaper ones work just as well, if not better.
I had one of those CHI twirling irons and honestly wasn't that impressed. I gave it to Gary's mama because my hair wasn't very long at the time. Naturally, about eight months later, my hair had grown out and I wanted another one. I ended up buying a TYME iron for about $40 less, and I absolutely love it! One of the best hairstyling tools I've ever owned.
Actually, now that I'm writing this, maybe I should just check TYME's website before buying anything else. See, sometimes these blogs are more beneficial to me than y'all. It's like having a conversation with myself, only now everybody gets to witness the nonsense.
All I really want is something small that heats up quickly and flips my bangs and the little pieces around my face. My hair is naturally curly and wavy, and I've finally embraced it. I let it air-dry, put it in a bun while it's still slightly damp, and sleep on it. By morning, I've got all the curls and bounce I need.
When I got my hair trimmed yesterday, she blew it out straight, and I looked like I'd stuck my finger in a light socket. There's a reason I don't wear it that way anymore!
I just need something to feather out the front without burning half my face off. Maybe a little mini curling iron? Who knows. I'll probably go looking for one thing and come home with something completely different.
And there you have it. Coffee, kids, grandbabies, blue jeans, and curling irons. Just another perfectly normal morning inside my head.
I'm going to finish this coffee and get myself moving before I think of seventeen more things I need to do.
Y'all have a wonderful Tuesday!
